The David Garms family received outstanding attention lately in Braham, as well as a great deal of respect and admiration for their display of singing, stage poise and charm.

The Garms appeared at the "Community Praise" service on Sunday evening after Pie Day on Aug. 3. Groups and individuals were invited to perform Christian music during that evening at the Braham Evangelical Covenant Church rather than Freedom Park in downtown Braham due to a soaking rain that afternoon. "The Garms family frequently sing at the St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Braham, but when a cross-section of the entire community heard them on Aug. 3, it was a wider spread sensation," note fans.

Their next appearance took place at the Braham Ev. Lutheran Pork & Turkey Supper on Friday, Aug. 15. They were one of many outstanding musical groups and individuals who entertained the large crowd for this annual event. Before the evening was over, the Garms family had a much larger following of devoted fans.

The Garms children are Ben (17), Taylor (16), Leesha (13), Sam (8), Jayme (6) and Caleb (4). Their oldest daughter is on her own-living and working in the metro area. Because of her fresh, youthful good looks, Mrs. Garms (Kris) is often mistaken for one of the daughters.

The Garms won the talent contest at the Kanabec County Fair in July. As a result, they have been invited to take part in the talent contest at the Minnesota State Fair on the Baldwin Park Stage on Aug. 24.

Each one of the Garms family is a vocal soloist and plays an instrument. They harmonize beautifully, as well. The Garms home-school their children, so all of this musical talent is developed at home. "When it’s time for four-year-old Caleb to sing, he can belt out a solo as good as any member of the clan-loud, clear and inspirational," note admirers.

"If anyone has a chance to hear and see this remarkable family, don’t miss it."

Four Minutes For Jesus  by David (Dad)

August 17, 2008

As Christians, I see, we are given talents and opportunities to serve Him.  Sometimes those assignments are more obvious than others.  Often we are given short moments in time, only a few words to share, rather than lengthy discourse.

Great Adventure Gospel Band has been granted four minutes to point to the cross.  We call it, "Four Minutes For Jesus."

As performers in the MN State Fair Talent Contest, we resist the focus on our ability.  For Great Adventure, we are excited the Lord has given us an opportunity to shine the light for Him.  To us, it's not the competition that's important, but the time to point to Jesus.  That is why we're involved - to serve Him.

Please pray for us as we prepare for this assignment.  Pray that we will be focused on Him, our Lord and King.  Pray for protection from the evil one as the time arrives, as he seeks to devour those trying to follow the Lord.

May the Lord be with you as you serve Him...it might be only a few minutes at a time.
